Good evening Parents! There have been a couple of incidents in the last few days involving a suspicious white GMC vehicle at bus stops in the morning. A person within the vehicle has spoken to children at the bus stops and fled when the bus was arriving. Parents, please take the opportunity to remind your child about the appropriate ways to protect themselves from strangers intending to do harm and the importance of not talking to strangers, especially at the bus stop. Encourage them to follow these guidelines. 1) Avoid Strangers: Emphasize that they should not engage in conversation with people they don’t know, especially when waiting at the bus stop. Explain that it’s important to stay cautious and not respond to strangers trying to start a conversation 2) Report Any Suspicious Activity: Let your child know that if they ever encounter strangers who make them uncomfortable, or if someone offers them a ride, they should immediately report this to you, their teacher, or another trusted adult. In this case you should notify Metro Nashville Police. 3) Accompanying to the Bus Stop: If possible, try to have an adult accompany your child to the bus stop or arrange for them to wait with other children and a responsible adult. There is safety in numbers, and adults can help ensure their well-being 4) Emergency Contact: Make sure your child knows how to reach you or another trusted adult in case they need help or feel unsafe at the bus stop. Having an open and honest conversation with your child about these safety measures is vital to ensure their well-being when they are not in oyur immediate supervision. It’s important to empower them with the knowledge and confidence to protect themselves and seek help if necessary. Good morning, This morning Smithson Craighead Academy initiated a lockdown. Metropolitan Nashville Police Department has cleared our campus and lockdown has been lifted. This lockdown was initiated because of neighbor activity within the radius of our school. At no time was your child in any danger. Your child's safety is of the utmost importance. Our scholars and staff did an amazing job and understood the seriousness of the situation. We greatly appreciate your support and patience during this time. Go Eagles! SCA Administration
Good morning parents,

Dear Parents:
Today SCA completed our monthly required fire drill at 9:01am. We also conducted a tornado drill. Majority of our Eagle Scholars did a fantastic job and responded well. However, we ask that you please continue to talk with your scholars concerning the importance of listening and always being attentive. They should take each drill seriously as this keeps us prepared in case of a real occurrence.
