Good morning SCA! This morning Smithson Craighead Academy conducted our annual Active Intruder Drill. We were accompanied by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department's active response team. Keeping our school campuses safe from active shooters or intruders is one component of a school emergency plan. Part of being prepared is planning safety drills. Our scholars and staff did an amazing job and understood the seriousness of the drill. At no time was your child in any danger as this was only a drill. Rescue Rex was also onsite and all of our Pre-k through 2nd grade scholars were able to enjoy a fun presentation on 911 safety. Parents, we highly encourage you all to speak with your scholars and reassure them of their safety allowing them to express how drills make them feel. If there are any concerns, please reach out to your child's teacher so we can support your efforts in ensuring they are calm. As always, our scholars safety is of the utmost importance. We greatly appreciate your support and assistance when discussing the importance of school drills. Let's Go Eagles! SCA Administration
